Pellecome® Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

Are you ready to feel like yourself again? Hormone imbalances can cause us to feel “off” without realizing it. As a board-certified OB-GYN, Mareeni Stanislaus, M.D., has diagnosed and treated many women with hormone deficiencies often due to pregnancy, menopause, and the natural aging process. She offers medically supervised bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with Pellecome pellet therapy at her practice in Templeton because it is safe, effective, and easy.

Dr. Stanislaus Says

"Pellet therapy is a consistent and reliable delivery mechanism for bio-identical hormones that is quick and convenient. No need to remember a daily pill, give yourself injections, or worry about transferring a cream unintendedly."

Stanislaus Integrative Wellness provides a variety of feminine wellness treatments for women from Paso Robles, Atascadero, Morro Bay, and throughout San Luis Obispo County. For a personalized consultation, call us at (805) 434-3000 or email reception@stanislausobgyn.com.

What are bio-identical hormones?

Pellecome bio-identical hormone pellets are made from plant sources to match the hormones (on a chemical and molecular level) the body naturally creates like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Many people prefer bio-identical hormones because they are more easily utilized by the body than the synthetic versions found in birth control pills and many prescription hormone replacement medications.

What is Pellecome BHRT (hormone pellet therapy)?

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) comes in a variety of forms such as creams, pills, patches, injections—and pellets. With Pellecome therapy, hormone pellets that are about the size of a grain of rice are inserted in the fatty tissue under the skin in a simple office procedure. These time-released implants ensure a steady, consistent release of hormones into the bloodstream so you don’t need to think about it on a daily basis.

Am I a good candidate for BHRT?

Beginning around age 30, hormone levels naturally decline. As women approach menopause, hormone levels fluctuate, causing various unpleasant symptoms.

You may be a good candidate for BHRT if you are at least 30 years old and have any of the following concerns:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Painful intercourse due to vaginal dryness
  • Brain fog
  • Depression
  • Trouble sleeping

Men also benefit from BHRT to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), renew energy levels, boost mood, increase muscle mass, and more.

Can combine hormone pellets be combined with other nonsurgical gynecologic treatments?

Yes. The following feminine rejuvenation treatments have helped many women on BHRT attain more complete relief from their symptoms and enhance their quality of life:

During your private consultation, ask your practitioner about these and other options and she will create a personalized treatment plan for you.

Will I lose weight on BHRT?

While Pellecome BHRT does help many patients lose weight, we offer other program specifically designed to help people take control of their weight, including including naltrexone, phentermine and GLP-1 inhibitors.

How do I get started with BHRT?

During a private consultation, Dr. Stanislaus or a nurse practitioner will review your medical history, perform a physical exam, and talk with you about your symptoms to rule out any underlying conditions. If BHRT is appropriate for you, she will order blood work to measure your current hormone levels.

If your bloodwork suggests you are a candidate for BHRT, you will return to the office for pellet insertion—typically in the hip or upper buttock. The Pellecome Re3® device was specifically designed to minimize discomfort and optimize efficiency. After cleansing and numbing the skin, your practitioner will make a small incision, insert the pellets, and apply a small bandage. The process takes only about 15 minutes.

When will I notice the results?

Patients typically begin to notice relief 1 to 3 days after pellet insertion. Hot flashes take about 2 weeks to subside. Improvements in energy and libido develop gradually. Full results take up to 6 months because we gradually adjust dosing based on your level of improvement.

How long do BHRT pellets last?

Pellecome pellets are completely absorbed within about 3 to 4 months so you will need additional pellets inserted 3 to 4 times per year (experiences vary).

Does insurance cover hormone pellets?

Coverage varies with insurance companies. If Dr. Stanislaus is contracted with your insurance provider, we will bill your insurance for consultations, but the insertions will be charged directly to you as a separate procedure.
